Kell Levendorf
Certified for 43 years; instructing for 41; Adaptive for 5.
Kell originally taught through NASDS, handling all the dive center's introductory scuba experiences and cutting his teeth on the wrecks of New York & New Jersey, Virginia Beach, and North Carolina. He made the switch to NAUI in the mid-80s and taught part-time in the scuba program at the University of Pittsburgh while working in the professional liability insurance and risk management industry. In the last days of the 20th Century, he pulled the plug on corporate life and opted to "retire" and become a full-time dive instructor.
Kell moved to FL on January 1, 2000 to crossover to PADI, and has since taken on one of the most remarkable and varied scuba careers imaginable, with leadership positions in Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Jupiter, Key Largo and Key West.
He was the Chief Development Officer of PADI's original Career Development Center; owned and managed charter operations in the Palm Beaches; served as Gear Editor of Sport Diver Magazine and ScubaLab Director for Scuba Diving Magazine; was Director of Training for the world's largest scuba retailer; and spent two years as a Forensic Dive Accident Investigator and Risk Management Consultant for the Lloyd's of London insurance markets and the law firm that was their principal counsel for defense.
He came back to Key Largo in May of 2018, working in the IDC Team and as Rainbow Reef's in-house Risk Manager. On January 1, 2022 he was named the Assistant GM, with responsibilities that seem to grow and morph on a weekly basis...
